Sodium formaldehyde bisulfite (SFMB), with the chemical formula HOCH₂SO₃Na, is a white crystalline powder widely used as a reducing agent, stabilizer, and intermediate in various industrial applications. In resin manufacturing, it serves as a key intermediate in the production of urea-formaldehyde and melamine-formaldehyde resins, which are widely used in adhesives, coatings, and laminates.

In the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries, sodium formaldehyde bisulfite acts as a protective agent for aldehydes and a reducing agent in organic synthesis.
