Main Application

PN is a highly effective and efficient complexing agent for Cupric, Zn & Pb with co-deposition with Ni ions.

 

Sodium formaldehyde bisulfite (SFMB), with the chemical formula HOCH₂SO₃Na, is a white crystalline powder widely used as a reducing agent, stabilizer, and intermediate in various industrial applications. It is formed by the reaction of formaldehyde and sodium bisulfite, resulting in a stable adduct with both sulfonate and hydroxymethyl functional groups.

SFMB is commonly used in the photographic, textile, and leather industries as a formaldehyde donor, providing controlled release of formaldehyde for fixation and finishing processes. In resin manufacturing, it serves as a key intermediate in the production of urea-formaldehyde and melamine-formaldehyde resins, which are widely used in adhesives, coatings, and laminates.

In the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries, sodium formaldehyde bisulfite acts as a protective agent for aldehydes and a reducing agent in organic synthesis. Its ability to react with aldehydes and ketones makes it useful in stabilizing sensitive compounds and preventing oxidation or polymerization during processing and storage.

Additionally, SFMB is employed as an antioxidant and corrosion inhibitor in water treatment formulations, contributing to system longevity and efficiency.
